The Talkback Law

May 13, 2008 at 9:13 am (COMMENTARY,

Israel is a small country with a very vibrant political atmosphere. As everyone knows, every Jew, especially an Israeli one, has at least one opinion on any given issue, public or otherwise. Add to this the fact that we live in a somewhat interesting neighborhood, and that the issues we have to deal with are often just as interesting, and it is a small wonder that the advent of the Internet brought with it an explosion of various sites that deal with current affairs. But the really big explosion and the real action is in the commentary sections of these sites – the Talkbacks. The Talkbackists, as they have become known, are often the real stars, very often not in a good way. Not to worry though, as always we can count on Politicians To The Rescue. There are two things in the linked report that upset me. One is that only 2 MKs opposed the bill, while 29 supported it. The other is that one of those precious two is Shelly Yachimovich, for whom I have a very strong dislike. What can you do though, when she’s right, she’s right.

I would love to comment more, but I can’t really provide intelligent insights to the ones without English translations.

Not that I necessarily provide intelligent insights on the ones I can understand.

I know – sorry there isn’t more stuff in English. It’s mainly because I’ve been a bit busy, what with the Independence Day and all (all those salads that go so well with the BBQ don’t prepare themselves, you know!) Oh, and stop fishing for compliments:-P

I was very serious – not fishing

I occasionally come up with something that appears to be intelligent, but I never underestimate my capacity for saying foolishness.

No need to apologize either, it’s your blog, you do what you want with it.
